Biography

I was born in Paris and grew up in the eastern suburbs. At the age of seven, I began playing the cello—and immediately knew that music would accompany me throughout my life.

After training at the Mirecourt School of Violin Making, I spent three years in Christian Erichson’s workshop in Hanover. In 2010, Hieronymus Köstler welcomed me into his Stuttgart workshop, where I have been working as a restorer ever since.

Exchange with colleagues is essential to me—learning and improving through shared experiences. Today, violin making is shaped by fruitful collaboration rather than secrecy.

Sound is multifaceted. My work has taught me that there are as many violin models as there are musicians. Each violin maker has their own sound, shaped by both conscious choices and intuition.

I don’t believe in the one perfect sound, but I do believe that every well-made instrument will find its musician—and become, as Ysaÿe said of his Guarneri del Gesù, a “trusted companion”.
