Biography
Being both a violinist and a bowmaker, I learned the violin and the piano from an early age which in turn led to violin studies at academies of music in Denmark, Germany and France. I went on to perform as a chamber musician and soloist in a number of European countries. A contract in the state opera of Kassel in Germany allowed me to experience the life of an opera musician. Throughout this time, my passion for bows developed and in the summer of 2015 the encounter of the master bow maker Gilles Duhaut gave me the possibility to spend 2 years in his workshop intensively studying the making of new bows in the French tradition passed on through Bernard Ouchard. Following this apprenticeship, I continued perfectioning my skills in the workshops of master bow makers such as Ulf Johansson, Pascal Camurat and Pierre Nehr, as well as working with several professional musicians on the refinement of the playing qualities of my bows. Since 2018 I have had my own workshop in France and In 2019 I moved my workshop to Alsace to concentrate on the manufacture of new bows.
I was awarded the prize “Coup de coeur Marion DUCHESNE” at the international bow making competition “CONCOURS D’ARCHETERIE VIOLA’S 2019” in Paris, where I was the youngest contestant.
In 2023 I was awarded the 3rd prize in the viola category at the 1st International competition for violin and bow making in Mirecourt, LAME.
Today, I work on the creation of my handmade bows according to the french tradition. In my work, I am inspired by the French masters of the 19th century to which I bring my personal style.
