Biography
Born in Canada, Jordan Scapinello studied double bass with Joel Quarrington, Tim Pitts and Paul Ellison before winning an orchestra position in Sweden. He also performs regularly as a member of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and tours as a guest artist with various orchestras and chamber ensembles.
Jordan began studying bowmaking with his father-in-law, violin maker James Reck, and at the University of New Hampshire with Lynn Hannings. He subsequently apprenticed in Sweden under the tutelage of Ulf Johansson.
Jordan received a gold medal from the Violin Society of America International Competition in 2022 and a Certificate of Merit in 2018. Jordan’s bows are in high demand and played in top orchestras such as the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic among others. He still plays professionally in Malmö, Sweden where he lives with his wife, two daughters, and a rabbit.
