
Biography
Maarten his training as a violinmaker finds its roots at the ‘Royal Conservatory of Ghent (BE)’and at the ‘Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music’ in Poznan (PL) where he was trained under the supervision of Marcin Krupa.
During his studies, Maarten travelled extensively through Europe expending his knowledge. He graduated with distinction, receiving an honorary bequest from the ‘Royal Conservatory of Ghent’.
The following years he worked closely alongside multiple gold medal winner Ulrich Hinsberger (GER) and his wife Dagmar. A close connection was formed between Maarten and the Hinsberger family.
After 10 years of training, he established his own workshop in Ghent (BE) specializing in the making of fine violins and violas.
By attending renowned workshops like Oberlin (USA), Maarten keeps expanding his knowledge while working closely with some of the world’s finest makers.
He is sharing his skill and experience while teaching the next generation of violinmakers at the International Lutherie School of Antwerp (ILSA) (BE).
