Franziska grew up in a musical family in Ulm and trained at the violin making school in Newark after graduating from high school.
She was particularly interested in bow making and had the opportunity to gain her first experience in the renowned workshop of Isaac Salchow after the violin making school and deepened this with Gregor Walbrodt in Berlin.
Since 2021, she has been working independently as a bow maker in shared premises with violin maker Janine Wildhage.
From summer 2024, she will be in Ulm and will run a joint workshop with her father, master violin maker Bernhard Gerstner, continuing to work as a bow maker. She will maintain her contacts with Berlin in the future and work there regularly.
