Gregor Walbrodt, born in 1968, began his training as a bow maker in 1990 in the Roderich Paesold workshop in Bubenreuth, Germany.
After his apprenticeship, he went to Lille, France, in 1994 to train with Jean-Marc Panhaleux. In 1995 he went to Paris and worked for a year with the influential bow maker Stéphane Thomachot.
In 1996 he set up his own bow making workshop in Berlin, Germany and passed his master craftsman's examination in 1999.
Gregor Walbrodt has participated in numerous international bow making competitions and won 4 gold medals at the VSA competitions in 1996, 1998 and 2000 and 2 gold medals at the International Violin and Bow Making Competition in Mittenwald, Germany.
Gregor's bows show the working style of the modern French bow making school and the influence of the classical French work of Persoit and F.X.Tourte.
In addition to building new bows, I enjoy working with musicians to find the ideal combination of instrument and bow.
